Last Weeks Events!

Last week we had an amazing time learning and exploring the world around us. As I am a little behind on the blog I will be posting what happened each day!

Friday

On friday we had multicultural day! And this week we were learning all about China!!! We learnt all about where it was located on the world map, what it was shaped like, the capital of China and all abouts its traditions! After I was done teaching the children about the interests facts, I taught the children what chinese lanterns represent. I had put together a craft activity so the class could make there very own chinese lanterns! They were given different shaped lanters, string and many different textures and they were to put it together and paste on the textures themselves! Here is a few snapshots:

Lottie decided to dress up as a lion to create her lanterns as lions are in chinese festivities.
Here is Shaylee with her Dolly Bob painting the lanterns her favorite color purple.

We had an absolutely fantastic class on friday! Where we even read a story based in china! After all the excitement including lunch, play time and show and tell, the children were very tired and as I read them the story they drifted off to sleep!

We had such a wonderful week and I can't wait for the next!!!
I hope everyone enjoys there weekend!!

Thursday

On thursday we did indeed have Aquatic day, where we will learn all about a aquatic animal and go swimming and exploring our aquatic environment! This week we learnt all about what aquatic means, what aquatic animals are and we focused mainly on learning about the Octopus. We had a discussion about all the interesting facts about the Octopus where the children got to ask any underlying questions they had before we started on the handout for today's class.

This was Thursday's octopus handout.
Many of the students completed there hand out and returned it to me, (unfortunately not all were mod so I can't download them from SL to upload) But here is anglee's very beautiful handout! She did a fantastic job:

After we completed our handout it was time to head to the pool where we enjoyed the sun!!
Here is me and Lottie enjoying a splash in the pool! Helping her keep afloat !

Overall we had a fun, and interesting day where a lot of lessons were taught! The following post will be about Friday's class!!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful sparkly day!

Last week's overview!!!

Last Weeks Events!

Last week we had an amazing time learning and exploring the world around us. As I am a little behind on the blog I will be posting what happened each day!

Tuesday

On tuesday we were discovering all about our shapes, this month's shape is a diamond. We had a brief overview of all our shapes and revised our shape sheet:

Each week we will be going over our shape sheet so by the end of term we really know how to tell the difference between each. After revising and learning about how the diamond has 4 sides we completed our diamond activity hand out, Both Shaylee and Samantha did an excellent job!
The orignal Shape sheet
Samanthas's Shape Sheet.
Shaylee's Shape Sheet.
After the children completed there handouts they learnt about what the craft activity would be today. Kites!! We would use the skills we had learnt about diamonds and there shape to create our very own kites. I had supplied the children with the materials they needed, got out our paints and they were to put together the kite pieces and then paint it in any color they desired. Here are some pictures from our kite making:

And now our kites are hanging proud in our class room, come in and take a look! I plan to decorate the classroom with all of the children's works, so at the end of term the parents will be invited in to have a very special day where we can show off our work.

Thursday and Friday's Classes will be posted in the next few blog posts!!
Have a bright sparkly day!

The download can be found here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Its my first time using a screen recorder too so hopefully in the future I am a little better at it! *Laughs* If you have any questions please send me an IM in world and I will surely help you as soon as possible. - Miss Lilly

Run down on last weeks events!

Run down on last weeks events!

Hello everyone what a beautiful weekend it has been for me! Last week was our first week of class, we did seem to have some misfortunes thrown at us however the show must go on! Last friday we did have class and bella did attend! We talked about who we are, the cultures and what they were, we looked at the map of the world and I discussed how I am from Australia ( Yes the land of the koala's and the kangaroo's *laughs*. My first lot of homework for you all was this sheet:

I will also be posting a video on how to use the basics of gimp to complete all homework and class tasks. ( You can use other programs that allow for drawing and saving as a jpeg or png to upload back into SL ) The download link for gimp is here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

As a teacher I am very focused on realistic role play, I make all my own hand out's and class activities my main focus is to make my classes as realistic as possible and tools like this help. I would love love love to decorate our classroom in our own works and that is my ultimate goal!

This weeks upcoming events will be posted soon!

Keep sparkling!
